Love everything about it - simple, utilitarian and scrubbed back ...
Just delicious xx

Ordered Messiness ...

I found this photo on Domino recently and just had to post it!
In the text, it is referred to as 'ordered messiness' - a perfect description for a lovely jumbly room ...

Romeo Romeo ...

Slightly off course from my usual furniture loves ... I surprised myself by falling head over heels for this fabulous Verona Armoire by Anna James ...

Inspired by the graffiti clad walls of the house where Juliet was said to have lived, messages are scribbled on the walls by those who visit Verona, Italy from all over the world ...

Lucky me has been to that very house, but alas I was minus pen that day so don't expect to see "Emma Woz Here' jotted anywhere on this beautiful piece!

Thank goodness... hey?

Ah ...

This photo does my weekend away no justice at all ...
I have spent 3 lovely days languishing by the beach in Coral Bay, sipping a few cold wines, but mainly just switching off my brain from work to neutral mode ... a much needed mini break ...

Now back at my computer, I feel a little more recharged and shall be more mindful not to leave it so long between breaks next time ...

Work/life/blog balancing act ... I'm sure you all well understand the constant dilemma!

Courtyard Chic ...

A stunning courtyard, I am sure you would all agree ...

A fabulous combination of aging shingles, limey grey concrete, slate, scrubby old red bricks, weathered wood planks and the always beloved topiary ...

Couldn't be more perfect really?

A great spot for a cup of peppermint tea and a flip through British Vogue ...

Pretty Paper ...

These stunning pictures are just a tiny snippet of the many magical works of Aussie duo Alana and Sara from Poppies for Grace. ...
You must go to the website now ... and then straight back here of course ... but their gorgeous designs will have you hooked ... I also loved the garlands and mobiles ...
This brown paper set, as my friends and family would confirm, is absolutely my favourite style of wedding invitation ... I love a casual postcard... and a lolly bag never ever goes out of style!
My name is already on the invitation ... now just to find the man ...

Modern Perfection ...

Once again, Skona Hem delivers us a spectacular feast for the eyes ...

Unfortunately, as usual, I cannot read a thing ...

I love how the palest - pale floors through this house and the contrast with the black furniture accents ...

I am always a massive fan of the interior french door - especially the doors lead to a room like this! Muted and pale gorgeousness ...

A lovely still life ... I love the hint of blue on the seat cushion ...

Another glorious jolt of black ... together with the spindly flower arrangement and the framed ink illustration, what a welcoming and stylish hallway ...

And then another shot of blue ... the house is very mixed in styles but I think it works together well ... there is unity throughout with the bright white walls and then hints of deeper colours to accent ... I love the ceiling beams in this shot ... it is beachy and modern and chic all at the same time ...

Basket Love ...

I really love baskets ... can you tell?
I have to give my Mum full credit for the passing on of the basket gene ... she has a massive collection and I cannot remember a family dinner where a basket of some sort has not been on the table ... they just remind me of her so much ...
She will love that basket light shade ... it is just delicious!

Missing Winter ...

A beautiful serene winter image ...
I am missing winter for the second year in a row ... yes, I said missing it!
I am probably mad, but I have a cupboard full of jackets feeling very empty without me inside them ...
I'm sure none of the southern readers feel sorry for me at all, but really, being cold is just lovely!
Have a happy weekend snuggled up by your heaters my dear friends, see you on Monday xx

Industrial Chic ...

I can't really explain it ... but I am in love with these lamps ...
They would only look fabulous in a rustic and pared back warehouse ... even more reason why that would be my perfect choice of abode ...
This last one looks like it should belong in the house of a big, burly fireman ...
who preferably lives with me ...
hey ... a girl can dream xx

You too can fulfill your lighting fantasies here xx

Rough Around The Edges ...

I am in mad passionate love with this couch ... but NO, that is not my silky nighty draped over the back ... ugh!
I just love the rough edge instead of piping ... fabulous stunning detail ...
I am a naughty blogger and cannot for the life of me find the link ... if you recognise it, please let me know xx

Moody Blues ...

Some beautiful blues to start off the day ...
I have always been very partial to the odd dash of Navy in interiors ... and in the new decorating scheme rightly so, there is a chair to be reupholstered in the bedroom in ticking stripes and a vintage piece of beige and navy mangle fabric to be fashioned into a long pillow for the bed ...
And a bit of Navy always reminds me of my beautiful and genius decorator Mum xx

Ahoy There ...

These Royal Sea Master lamps are the BOMB (as darling Kim would say!)
Start saving girls ... available here ...

Glass House ...

This restaurant just blows me away ...

I read about this years ago in a magazine and was super excited to finally find the link ...

It is called De Kas, a greenhouse rescued from demolition by someone with great forethought ... it is just a little outside Amsterdam ... booking my ticket now ...

I love that they have this really big potted plant inside ... and the tables and chairs are not the same if you look closely ... an interesting and effective zoning tool ... the interior is designed by Piet Boon ...

Just imagine how good this restaurant would look at night when it is gently lit from the inside ...

Love these giant baubles in the ceiling ... I think this must be the VIP section

A gorgeous patio! I imagine this is full to the brim in the Euro summers ...

Truly sublime ... and the chef has a Michelin star ... I say this like it matters (I don't even know what it means!) but really, they could serve me $50 toast and I would be tickled pink!

Different In A Good Way ...

Bedroom deluxe ... with the ever gorgeous Hermes blanket taking pride of place (read more here ...)

I have surprised myself immensely by loving the leopard carpet ... I also have a very unfashionable ex who would have gone mad for this ... and much to my dismay, I probably would have agreed ...!

Sometimes I think I have such a precise view of what I love and what I would never consider - and then sometimes it all goes topsy turvy...

I guess that is what keeps decorating so interesting ... a room is never really finished and we still search for that perfect piece that might tie it all together ...

Here are a few other rooms that I have done a double take over ...

Crazy couch - nothing of my usual scandi chic about this room but it is just fab ... (sorry, I can't remember the source)

Domino

This room is so busy yet still serene ... I have surprised myself today and feel like I may take a few less calculated risks in my new decorating project ... how very liberating xx

Shelved ...

This picture is from a Martha from some time ago but it is one that I have always loved ...
It is pretty but whimsical and just the look I am going for in my living room ...
I was thinking that the half-height bookshelf that I bought on my recent travels would look best with a big mirror propped on top and one of my new lamps in front, but seeing this again makes me lean towards installing a simple shelf ...
Tricky decision ... the living room is by no means dark, in fact, the one redeeming feature is that it has lots of natural light pouring in ... a scrubby old mirror is not necessary but would sure look pretty ...
But I do love a prop shelf - I would likely get into lots of trouble from the maintenance man who lives downstairs if he hears me drilling something though ...
Decisions decisions ...

Travel Envy ...

The next time I jump on a plane, I really want to be doing it with this rolling behind me ...
The Globe Trotter Trolley Case from J Crew ticks all my boxes for old-school-chic-understated-glamour luggage ...
Divine xx

Oh Dane ...

These are photos from the House Doctor Catalogue ... I truly had tears in my eyes when I first looked at their site ... get the tissues ready people ...
Of course, it is Danish - no other country has such style and grace in there interiors as far as I can tell ....
I would love a black boarded house like in the first photo - might be a little hot in the Australian summer but I suppose that is why air conditioners were invented ...
So beautifully styled ... so simply elegant ... I could buy it all quite happily xx
